Rockwell Collins Inc. d/b/a Collins Aerospace has an opening for a Principal Engineer, Software Engineering in Wilsonville, OR. This is a hybrid position, must work in Wilsonville, Oregon three days per week and can work remotely two days per week.

What YOU will do

  • Develop, coordinate, and conduct complex tests and debug control and diagnostic systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.
  • Liaise closely with other project team members in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software to ensure smooth operations on software engineering activities.
  • Make recommendations on changes in the selection and application of software production components, implement major components, present design reviews, and coordinate with other organizations to improve and develop software engineering activities.
  • Design and implement build procedures that are used to support hardware and software product development and function.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Must possess at least a bachelors degree or its equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field and at least 8 years of progressive experience as a Software Engineer or related role in embedded software development. In the alternative, at least a masters or its equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field and at least 5 years of experience as a Software Engineer or related role in embedded software development.
  • Must possess at least 5 years of experience writing software requirements, software design and implementation, functional and integration testing, writing test cases and test procedures, and software delivery support.
  • Must possess at least 5 years of programming experience working on embedded software development projects.
  • Must possess at least 5 years of experience in modern software development best practices such as static analysis, requirement-based testing, and configuration management tools.
  • Must possess at least 5 years of experience creating DO-178B/C certified software for Avionics applications.
  • Must possess at least 1 year of experience leading a project team.

Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite.

The salary range is $138,029.00 to $196,000.00 USD per year. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
