We are looking for you to join our team as a Principal Network Engineer or Sr Principal Network Engineer based out of McClellan, CA. As a Network Engineer at Northrop Grumman, you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation. What you’ll get to do:
- Provide networking equipment inventory management and documentation
- Document network information including of all switching and routing equipment, connected IP-addressable devices and cabling interconnects
- Provides day-to-day network maintenance to include installation, configuration, operation, and troubleshooting of switched networks and network equipment
- Research, design and implement security solutions for network infrastructure
- Design, price and implement network systems.
- Engineer network solutions for new & existing systems.
- Participate in project planning and participate in proposal writing.
- Track and report identified information system vulnerabilities
- Monitor, review, analyze, tune, and make recommendations to optimize network
- Manage, configure, and install firewall security appliances
- Assist in the creation of test plans and procedures
This position may be filled as a Principal Network Engineer or Sr Principal Network Engineer.
Basic Qualifications for a Principal Network Engineer:
- Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in science, engineering, or related discipline with 5 years of experience; or 3 years of relevant experience with a Masters (MS) degree; or 0 years with a PhD;
- An additional 4 years of relevant experience/education can be considered in lieu of a Bachelor of Science Degree
- Experience with 2 or more of the following: ACI, Spine Leaf, SPLUNK, Firewall, BGP/OSPF, Spanning Tree, Cisco, Multicast, Packet decoding
- Basic troubleshooting / hardening & upgrading experience
- Experience with switching, routing protocols
- DoD 8570 Security certification such as Sec+, CASP, CISSP, or equivalent
- Clearance: Must have an Active Top Secret/SCI
Basic Qualifications for a Sr Principal Network Engineer:
- Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in science, engineering, or related discipline with 8 years of experience; or 6 years of relevant experience with a Masters (MS) degree; or 3 years with a PhD;
- An additional 4 years of relevant experience/education can be considered in lieu of a Bachelor of Science Degree
- Experience with 2 or more of the following: ACI, Spine Leaf, SPLUNK, Firewall, BGP/OSPF, Spanning Tree, Cisco, Multicast, Packet decoding
- Basic troubleshooting / hardening & upgrading experience
- Experience with switching, routing protocols
- DoD 8570 Security certification such as Sec+, CASP, CISSP, or equivalent
- Clearance: Must have an Active Top Secret/SCI
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with multiple network vendors and operating systems.
- Experience with Wide Area Networks and commensal circuit requests.
- Experience with ISR assets.
- Experience with Cisco ASAs.
- Experience with VMware vSwitches and port groups.
- Experience with DoD STIGS and NIST security standards.
- Experience with Inline Network Encryptors. KG175D/G and KG250
- Experience with port-security
- Experience implementing 802.1x
- Experience managing DNS
Salary Range: $97,500 - $146,300
Salary Range 2: $120,900 - $181,300
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
