Job Description We are seeking an experienced Optical Systems Engineer to join our team at BAE Systems. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and delivering complex optical payloads that meet mission-level requirements. You will lead cross-functional teams to develop state-of-the-art subsystems and payloads for our internal and external customers.

What You’ll Do:
- Design and analyze complex optical systems, including error budgeting and operational data analysis.
- Architect optical payloads to meet mission-level requirements.
- Lead cross-discipline teams to deliver cutting-edge subsystems and payloads.
- Support cross-enterprise communication and collaboration to provide best practices and institutional knowledge to all pursuits.
- Establish, develop, and maintain solid relationships with Engineering peers, internal stakeholders, and external customers.
- Provide technical leadership and direction by exhibiting behaviors that would include a unifying vision, understanding the diverse needs of our SBUs, and acting with humility and a collaborative spirit.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site three or more days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
- May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
- May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
