Responsible for designing and developing scalable, maintainable, highly available network architectures that meet critical mission objectives and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
In this role you will be supporting the primary infrastructure that drives mission outcomes by setting up and maintaining networks within the customers domain and integration with mission partner organizations. Responsibilities:
- Monitoring network engineering performance and ensure system availability and reliability
- Configuring and installing various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS)
- Performing network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations
- Monitoring system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
- Provide troubleshooting support to resolve issues
- Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
- Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the security teams guidance
- Maintain documentation of network server configurations, application licensing agreements, and other third party software installed
Must-haves:
- Bachelors Degree in a related field with at least 2 or more years of relevant experience
- Higher education may substitute for relevant experience
- Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of required education
- Experience supporting a corporate network, maintaining SLAs, providing support to corporate IT departments.
- Hands-on network engineering experience
- Understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS)
- Solid understanding of the OSI and/or TCP/IP model
- Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools
- Knowledge of networking concepts, technologies, best practices and security procedures
Preferred:
- Experience maintaining Service Level Agreements (SLAs) *Network Certifications (e.g. CCNA, CCNP, CCIE)
- Security Certifications (e.g Security+, CISSP)
- Experience documenting logical or physical design using drawing tools
- Experience in one or more of the following network management tools; PaloAlto Panorama, SolarWinds, Cisco Prime, Cisco DNA
- Hands-on expertise with network hardware, protocols, and media including but not limited to Fiber Optics, UTP, 802.11, VOIP
