Summary:
Experienced Senior Materials and Processes (M&P) Engineer specializing in composite and bonded airframes.
Expertise includes material qualification, fabrication, cure rheology, secondary bonding, repair techniques, NDT, finishing, test methods, certification, statistical analysis, project management, and MRB actions.
Develop, maintain, and apply M&P specifications.
Review and approve engineering drawings for M&P requirements.
Oversee composite fabrication and bond process development and quality control.
Create FAA material qualification and equivalency test plans and reports.
Manage material qualification test programs and analyze data for design allowables.
Support MRB and Service Center liaison for M&P issues.
Collaborate with suppliers, test houses, Procurement, and in-service aircraft.
Travel as needed for M&P issues.
Required Skills:
BS or MS in Mechanical, Chemical, or Materials Engineering.
8+ years of related engineering experience, with at least 5 years in M&P Engineering.
Experience with FAA Certification Branch is a plus.
FAA Designated Engineering Representative (DER) or MRB authority is advantageous.
Strong technical writing for specifications, standards, and test reports.
Excellent communication skills and proficiency in MS Office, CMH-STATS, HYTEQ, TeamCenter, and SAP.
Skilled in 3D modeling with CATIA V5 and applying M&P requirements on engineering drawings.
Familiarity with other M&P specialties (metallics, sealants, finishes) and NDT techniques is a plus.
Ability to apply FAA regulations and perform statistical analysis of material qualification data.
Ability to mentor and lead less experienced engineers and technicians.
Physical Requirements:
Exposure to operational noise, heat, cold, dust, and equipment odors.
Capability to stand, sit, squat, walk, bend, climb, reach, and stretch as required.
Adhere to safety regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, EPA, etc.).
Read, hear, speak, and see with no restrictions.
Communicate effectively in Business English.
Lift or move items up to 10 lbs. regularly and up to 50 lbs. with assistance as needed.
