Responsibilities
The Liaison Engineer provides 24/7 Engineering support to the operation of the Line Maintenance organization. Engineering support includes providing dispositions on non-conformances as well as liaising between Engineering, the OEM or vendors, and front line functional groups (Maintenance, Quality, Planning, Materials, etc) to dispatch out of service aircraft.
Liaison Engineering is an exciting opportunity in a fast paced environment directly involved with the front line operations. Position may be located in Detroit, Houston, Orlando, or Fort Lauderdale.
THIS POSITION REQUIRES SHIFTWORK INCLUDING EVENINGS/MIDNIGHTS/WEEKENDS/HOLIDAYS
- Safety and detail oriented with the ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-functional environment across various departments
- Maintain clear communication with Line Maintenance, Maintenance Control, Quality, other Engineering groups, OEM, and other groups
- Investigate damage findings for accuracy and compare with published limits
- Develop repairs, including authoring dispatch documents and document substantiation, to safely return aircraft to service
- Provide clarification to maintenance groups on technical documentation (drawings, aircraft manual, MEL/CDL, etc.)
- Assist in determining effectivity/interchangeability
- May perform other responsibilities as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change when circumstances dictate. (e.g. emergencies change in workload, rush jobs or technical developments.)
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in Aerospace Engineering/Mechanical Engineering
- 3-5 years experience
- Valid US Drivers License required
- A&P License preferred
- Repair design and development - using engineering methods and critical thinking to approach ambiguity in order to provide safe, clear, concise, and correct direction. This will include authoring as well as checking documents for dispatch.
Ability to interpret complex technical documents
Strong ability to utilize MS Office Suite, TRAX, maintenance software, and flight plot.
Advocate for Safety & Compliance. Embrace Air Carrier Safety Management System (SMS).
Working knowledge of 14 CFR 25 and 121 with specific Airbus A320 family experience preferred
Ability to work with limited direct supervision and in a fast paced/time sensitive environment
- Domestic & International travel approximately 25 of time
