Mechanical Design Analyst

Contract Position
Join a leading engineering team as a Mechanical Design Analst, supporting the development of advanced aerospace systems. Apply your expertise to perform structural analysis, load path evaluation, and integration with loads and dynamics environments to contribute to mission-critical projects.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze load paths from conceptual design to drawing release and hardware creation.
- Perform structural analysis of primary and secondary spacecraft structures.
- Integrate structural analysis with loads and dynamics environments.
- Develop, refine, and validate Finite Element Models (FEM) and correlate results to test data.
- Conduct strength checks and generate analysis reports.
- Create test and verification plans and support configuration development and trade studies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering.
- 8+ years of experience in structural analysis and design.
- Strong foundation in structural static and dynamic analysis fundamentals.
- Ability to solve a variety of static and dynamic structural problems using hand calculations, in-house tools, and 3rd party commercial analytical software.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: external loads, vibro-acoustic analysis, thermal loads.
- Proficiency in using analytical tools such as Nastran, Ansys, Abaqus, LS-Dyna, or Optistruct.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with vehicle load path definition and strength analysis.
- Expertise in the analysis of metallic and composite structures (e.g., skin-stringer, fittings, sandwich panels).
- Knowledge of composite design and analysis, including thermoset, thermoplastic, metal matrix, and ceramic matrix composites.
- Familiarity with manufacturing methods, material selection, testing, characterization, and allowable development.
- Experience in testing materials, joints, components, and vehicles.
- Proficiency in structural optimization using tools like Optistruct, HyperSizer, Nastran Sol 200, Abaqus, or Adams.
- Familiarity with CAD tools such as ProEngineer Wildfire 4 / Creo Parametric or later versions.
- Experience with human spaceflight and composite materials.
