Essential Functions:
- Provides electrical and/or electronic engineering technical support for a continuous, state of the art industrial melting facility.
- Engineers, designs, installs, commissions, and tests new equipment and equipment upgrades, including capital projects; supervises and directs outside resources when applicable.
- Recommends modifications to improve reliability, quality, and productivity of the site equipment. Oversees modifications as authorized. Works with engineering and management to develop solutions to recurring problems. Follows solutions and modifications through to installation. Evaluates effectiveness of actions.
- Leads and/or participates in continuous improvement to processes, equipment, and maintenance.
- Assists in problem solving for unplanned downtime.
- Leads and assists technicians in troubleshooting large industrial power supplies, drives, and furnace components.
- Troubleshoots and diagnoses operating electrical systems utilizing meters, oscilloscopes, and other analyzers.
- Issues reports documenting operational performance, achievements, projects, training, and maintenance work.
- Maintains a program of professional growth through selected seminars, courses, trade magazines, books, journals.
- Effectively communicates company and department goals, achievements, problems, solutions, practices, changes, and policies. Encourage positive communication. Enforce all company policies, rules and regulations.
- Conducts all operations in a safe and clean environment. Enforce all safety rules and regulations. Constantly be proactive in minimizing accidents. Participate in various Safety Programs.
- Maintains high ethical standards and integrity. Conduct all operations in a professional and businesslike manner.
- Supports weekend and holiday assignments as required.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required.
- 3-6 years of electrical/electronic experience working with industrial electronics and/or machine control systems including PLC&39;s, and HMI&39;s.
- Hands-on experience with industrial power supplies, drives, motors, and controls; ability to troubleshoot electrical component controls in an industrial facility.
- Ability to operate electrical test equipment including meters, oscilloscopes, and other analyzers.
- Programming experience in PLC Ladder Logic, C/C++, C, or C.net desired.
- Background/knowledge of mechanical systems (pneumatic, hydraulic, motor drives, etc.) desired.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities and work with personnel at all organizational levels.
- Effective communication (written and verbal), organization, and project management skills.
