How youll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities) The Data Engineer position plays a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining complex data pipelines and analytics solutions. They will work closely with business unit leaders, data scientists, and other stakeholders to deliver timely and accurate business insights to other departments. This position will become the subject matter expert in Delta Wellness and Sedgwick data, AWS, and Tableau, leading requirements meetings and providing solutions to stakeholders, solving highly ambiguous data issues, and providing mentorship to other data engineers and analysts.Design, create and maintain complex data process using AWS Glue, Python, and SQL.Gather requirements, develop, test and maintain dashboards in Tableau and AWS QuickSight Validate data to ensure accuracy and consistency in the GHW datawarehouse and create documentation for data pipelines, processes, and systems.Lead and coach other less senior team members.Interface with business unit leaders to understand requirements and maintain strong internal and external customer relationships.Utilize statistical and data science approaches to deliver insights and reporting for physical health, mental wellbeing, and other wellness operations across Delta Air Lines footprint.Provide recommended enhancements to existing processes and systems.Utilize statistical and data science approaches to deliver insights and reporting for physical health, mental wellbeing, disability, and other wellness operations across Delta Air Lines footprint.

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications) Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in data engineering, ETL, or related rolesType of Experience:Hands-on experience designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines.Proficiency in ETL processes, data transformation, and data integration.Familiarity with relational databases (SQL)Data Visualization: Exposure to creating dashboards using tools like Tableau or QuickSight.Leadership and Mentoring: Prior experience leading a team or mentoring junior engineers.2+ years working with disability and workers’ compensation dataProficiency in designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines.Strong understanding of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.Experience with tools like AWS Glue, Apache Spark, or similar.Knowledge of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Redshift, Teradata) Ability to design efficient data models (e.g., star schema, snowflake schema).Strong programming skills in Python for data manipulation, scripting, and automation.Expert with SQL for querying and data transformation.Proficiency in creating dashboards using tools like Tableau and Amazon QuickSight.Understanding of data visualization best practices.Experience with AWS cloud platformAbility to validate data for accuracy, consistency, and completeness.Implementing data quality checks and monitoring.Collaborating effectively in an agile environment.Solving complex data engineering challenges.Analyzing data-related issues and proposing solutions.Experience with mentoring junior engineers, and providing technical guidance.Ability to drive projects and initiatives.Creating clear and concise documentation for data pipelines, processes, and architectural decisions.Identifying areas for process improvement and suggesting enhancementsStrong written, oral communication and interpersonal skillsStrong organizational and prioritization skillsMust be able to interact and collaborate at all levels within Delta and across groupsConsistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.
