Position Summary
Summary
The Configuration Engineer (CE) is a key role reporting directly to the Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor. The Configuration Engineer’s primary responsibility is to oversee and manage all Configuration control activities, ensuring they are executed efficiently and adhering to established business processes and protocols. To build technical bid packs to support the quotation process in a professional and timely manner. This includes offering crucial input and support to maintain transparency, control, and timely execution of all configuration-related tasks. The Configuration Engineer plays a pivotal role in maintaining the integrity of configuration data and facilitating smooth operational workflows within the organisation.

- Act as the central point of contact and assume responsibility for recording and securely storing all drawings, customer specifications, and digital data received at the Shepshed site.
- Maintain comprehensive logs for drawings, customer specifications, and digital data, ensuring the proper functioning of the respective storage systems.
- Regularly monitor customer portals for new documents or updates and ensure timely downloading of these materials.
- Issue drawings and specifications for subcontracted work, as required.
- Take the lead in planning, organising, and chairing Change Control Board (CCB) meetings.
- Keep a well-maintained configuration log and create and update documentation to support configuration management activities.
- Monitor planned actions from the CCB to ensure they are completed and properly closed out.
- Ensure strict adherence to change control processes, company requirements, industry standards, and regulatory guidelines.
- Maintain control over and manage the configuration database.
- Manage the engineering change request system.

- Document Control: Strong skills in document control, including the ability to organise, catalogue, and securely store various types of technical documents and digital data.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail is crucial, as this role involves handling critical documents and data with precision to prevent errors or discrepancies.
- Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation is beneficial, especially in industries with complex technical products.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to facilitate interactions with team members, customers, and suppliers, as well as to document changes and procedures.
- Problem solving: Ability to identify and resolve issues related to configuration management, document control, and data integrity.
- Data Analysis: Proficiency in analysing data, interpreting trends, and making informed decisions based on quality metrics and performance indicators.
