Essential Functions:
- Test non-metallic materials using a variety of measurement instruments such as balances, universal testing machines, ovens, hotplates, hydraulic presses, and more.
- Create, cure, and inspect non-metallic materials as needed, utilizing equipment such as ovens, caul plates, hydraulic presses, and autoclaves.
- Conduct testing according to ASTM/MIL/ISO etc standards, standard work documents, and custom work requests.
- Measure specific properties and record the data, performing calculations to generate a report, according to specification requirements.
- Assist investigations in manufacturing and development programs, suggesting specific relevant testing, and carefully presenting the extent of information gained.
- Communicate with members from other teams and departments to facilitate work and assist the enterprise.
- Maintain laboratory readiness and cleanliness through 5S+1, kitting, and continuous improvement.
- Travel is not expected with this position; however, maximum travel is estimated to be 10
Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or appropriate discipline with 0 to 2 years of directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- 3.2 GPA or above
- Basic knowledge of polymeric materials
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Software applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Experience working in a laboratory environment
