Advanced Embedded Software Engineer
Middletown, RI
Contract Position
$52.21/Hour
Support the development of mission-critical systems for national defense as an Advanced Embedded Software Engineer. Contribute to state-of-the-art technologies for Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance systems supporting the Army, Navy, Air Force, Special Forces, and other Federal Government agencies.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership and expertise in the design, development, testing, and delivery of software for embedded systems.
- Drive the entire software engineering lifecycle, from requirements gathering and analysis to government support and maintenance.
- Lead the design and development of embedded system services and ensure software meets safety, security, and performance standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in real-time, high-assurance systems through diagnostics and debugging of existing code.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful integration and compliance with project requirements.
- Engage with customers, providing updates on progress, addressing issues, and contributing to technology and capability roadmaps.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related field (Science, Engineering, or Mathematics).
- 5+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on embedded systems.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense Secret Clearance.
- Proficiency in C programming (5+ years) and experience working in Linux environments (shell scripting and command line expertise).
- Hands-on experience in developing, testing, and debugging real-time embedded systems.
- Familiarity with message-oriented middleware.
- Experience with the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of DevOps concepts, including version control, build/test automation, and deployment strategies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with additional message-oriented middleware products such as AMQP and Data Distribution Service (DDS).
- Experience with both waterfall and agile/lean software development methodologies.
- Proficiency with lab equipment like Oscilloscopes, DMMs, Spectrum Analyzers, and other test tools.
- Familiarity with communication protocols such as GPIB, RS232, and SPI.
