PRIMARY FUNCTION:  The Electronics Technician is responsible for ensuring proper functionality of electronics systems on board vessel.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Monitors Quarter Deck for authorized entry of personnel and visitors.
• Checks required forms of identification and verify against vessel access list
• Exhibits proficiency in the use of all electrical and electronic test and monitoring equipment during the performance of repairs and maintenance on electrical and electronic equipment aboard ship. This may include, but is not limited to, the main propulsion engines, diesel and gas turbine, engine monitoring and alarm systems, fire detection systems, bridge control systems and Global Maritime Distress & Safety System (GMDSS) equipment.
• Possesses experience in using electronic repair and monitoring tools, such as oscilloscopes, multi-meters and possess good communication skills to interface with a variety of equipment technical representatives.
• Installs, services and repairs electronic equipment on board ships.
• Tests, adjusts, and troubleshoots components, sub-assemblies, and antennas.
• Loads, updates, and modifies software.
• Utilizes knowledge of electronic theory and circuitry to address a variety of technical problems.
• Makes intelligent use of complex schematics, blueprints, and manuals to accurately achieve assignments.
• The Electronics Technician may be required to perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization and vessel

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities. This position has the responsibility and authority to carry out assigned tasks.


Job Requirements:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
• Beginner computer skills specifically using Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn additional computer skills or software programs. Working knowledge of advanced software applications is preferred
• Ability to understand and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to generate routine reports and correspondence
• Interpersonal skills are necessary to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff. Will also routinely interact with other crew members
• Ability to use general office equipment such as fax, phone, copier, scanner, printers, etc.
• Ability to follow a process.
• Strong professional customer service skills, including active listening, prompt service and follow-up.
• Strong decision analysis and problem solving skills; ability to draw conclusions and justify decisions. Must be able to communicate issues to management.
• Ability to learn and understand corporate policies and procedures and how they relate to goals.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical computations
• High degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently
• Ability to multi-task

QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
• Minimum four (4) years of experience
• Systems Engineering experience
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a license or certification as follows:
Transportation Worker’s Identification Card (TWIC)
Basic First Aid
Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW-95)
Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
Merchant Mariner Document (Any unlicensed rating in Deck or Engineering)
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Government Top Secret Security Clearance


Preferred Skills:
• Prior ship board watch standing or similar machinery monitoring experience.
• Types of equipment, skills and experience desired:
• Integrated Bridges Systems
• ECDIS
• Satellite Communications WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
A fast paced multi-tasking customer service oriented environment requiring a high degree of efficient and effective performance.  Adaptability regarding schedule and task changes is necessary to accommodate changing priorities.  Overtime may be required.
