Electronics Technician III - Calibration
Job Description:

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Performs the testing, diagnosing, cleaning, repairing, and calibration of aircraft electronic test equipment in accordance with the maintenance support requirements. Enters maintenance documentation in NALCOMIS (VIDSMAFs).

DUTIES

Must have demonstrated maintenance knowledge, experience, and working level skills/ability:

  • The ETCAL shall have a demonstrated working knowledge and skill in:
  1. Testing, troubleshooting, diagnosing, cleaning, and recalibration of avionics/electronics equipment and aircraft electronic components.
  2. NALCOMIS and VIDS/MAFs entry and completion.
  • The ETCAL shall be a graduate from a two (2) year Electronics Technician resident course at an accredited institute, or have completed significant factory or military formal electronics training (i.e., 5 (five) years military aircraft electronics maintenance with emphasis in calibration field activity maintenance/repair).
  • The ETCAL shall have a minimum of three (3) years experience in the last ten (10) years in Navy/USMC aviation electronics maintenance and Aviation Quality Assurance Collateral Duty Inspector to the level of effort and complexity of requirements in this SOW. This experience shall be exclusive of formalized training time. Examples of acceptable experience: Navy Aviation Electronics Technician (AT) enlisted (i.e., E-5 through E-7) or USMC equivalent and NEC AT-6718 Electronics Standards Specialist or NEC AT-6673 Calibration Field Activity Technician (Electrical/Electronic).
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be a graduate of a two (2) year Electronics Technician resident course at an accredited institute, or have completed significant factory or military formal electronics training.
  • Must have at least three (3) years experience in the last ten (10) years in Navy/USMC aviation electronics maintenance and Aviation Quality Assurance Collateral Duty Inspector.
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Secret Clearance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for certain periods throughout the day.
  • Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands, working at heights with fall protection devices.
  • Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds and carry for short distances.
  • May be required to read dials/gauges, identify small objects and hand tools.
  • Must be able to see imperfections, micrometer readings and other small scales.
  • Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
  • Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth.
  • May be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, fork lift, APU, etc.
