The Avionics Technician is responsible for providing quality service to internal customers in Technical Operations. This includes performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs of aircraft radio, electrical and avionics systems.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform aircraft maintenance work in accordance with FAA and Company regulation
- Adjust, repair, or replace defective components based on analysis of test results following blueprints, schematics, wiring handbooks, and also other technical documents
- Perform such typical maintenance functions as cabling, component removal/installation, wire harness removal/installation, fabrication/repair of wire assemblies, and continuity checks
- Fabricate and install all wiring assemblies, static lines, and associated mechanical equipment
Physical AbilitiesThis position requires you to perform a variety of physical activities such as:
- Accessing elevated areas of aircraft for maintenance and servicing which may require ladders, jet stairways, high lift trucks, boom lifts and other lifting devices
- Climbing, standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, sitting, working overhead, extensive walking, working in tight/confined spaces and lifting up to 50 pounds
- Handling hazardous material in performance of assigned duties
- Be able to use Personal Protective Equipment (e.g., respirators, safety glasses, safety shoes, etc.)

QualificationsWhat’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):- High school diploma/GED or education equivalent
- FAA A&P License required
- Twelve (12) months experience required in radio and electrical/avionics trouble shooting and repair including IFE (In-Flight Entertainment) preferred
- At least 18 years of age
- Valid US drivers license (revoked, suspended or expired are not considered valid)
- Passing of a 10-year background check
- Passing of pre-placement hearing and vision tests, and drug screen
- Position-specific clearances required include but are not limited to FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs and U.S. Postal Service
- Passing and maintaining recurring pulmonary function check for the use of a respirator with no medical restrictions or limitations
- Possess own tools and purchase additional tools if required
- Flexible to work any shift in a 24/7 operation, including nights, weekends and holidays required
- Legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
- Successful completion of pre-employment skills tests and interview
- Reliable, punctual attendance is an important function of the position
- Knowledge and ability to use power tools
- The ability to become skilled on various test and ground equipment
- Basic computer knowledge
- Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
