KBFS has an immediate opening for an Avionics Technician to help deliver superior support to commercial and government customers in Temple, TX.
This is a part-time position. Military experience is a plus.
Description:
KBFS is seeking an intermediate-level technician who has received formal military aviation training or has received equivalent training from an Original Equipment Manufacturer, Technical School, or degree-producing institution for avionics repair. The employee will be responsible for the repair and installation of all categories of avionics and navigation equipment for rotary-wing and fixed-wing aircraft including radios, navigation equipment, instrumentation, and NVG-compatible cockpits. Also, installs fixed-wing auto-pilot systems and should have hands-on familiarity with fabrication and installing new instrument panels and other items required in extensive cockpit modifications.
Performs testing, troubleshooting, and repair of all commercially available avionics equipment and ascertains that all repairs are properly performed on all completed work prior to release to the customer and that the proper inspection records, reports, and forms typically used by a Part 145 Repair Station are properly executed. After proper inspection and verification of operability, the Avionics Technician has the authority to sign Return to Service in accordance with FAA Regulations.
Duties:
- Operates AGSE as required.
- Prepares aircraft maintenance forms and records and ensures all maintenance operations are conducted in a safe manner.
- Assists the Part 145 Accountable Authority in scheduling avionics repairs considering such factors as workflow, location of equipment and facilities, tools, supplies, and job requirements.
- Coordinates with KBFS Temple's Logistics Specialist for ordering parts and supplies in sufficient quantities to ensure minimum to no aircraft down-time due to supply.
- Reads and interprets maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and airworthiness directives.
- Makes entries to FAA-required records, logbooks, and other means of tracking historical data.
- Maintains inventory of parts, tools, materials, equipment, and supplies.
- Communicates effectively with customers, KBFS flight instructors, and maintenance managers.
