Job Overview
A Production Planner manages the scheduling and timeliness of the production process to ensure the company meets all deadlines. Their duties include managing material and equipment availability, scheduling production and monitoring the production process for problems.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for planning, scheduling and coordinating production of the companys products in accordance with material, labor, and equipment availability.
- Responsible for evaluating raw materials and equipment to ensure everything is in place for production.
- Execute Manufacturing Resource Planning using MRP system.
- Stage materials orders, picking, kitting, work orders, and stocking levels based on production demands.
- Responsible for effecting changes to production schedules to ensure that production deadlines are met.
- Responsible for promptly informing the relevant departments of changes to current production schedules.
- Accountable for compiling status and performance reports and submitting them to management in a timely manner.
- Responsible for promptly addressing and resolving production issues to minimize delays in production.
- Responsible for maintaining capacity models.
- Responsible for recommending viable solutions to reduce production costs as well as improve production processes and product quality.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Competencies
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Extensive knowledge of manufacturing requirements and Material Resource Planning (MRP).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with computerized materials control programs and MRP systems.
- Proven record showing the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Good computer skills: including Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
Education / Certifications
- Bachelor degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management or related field Experience
- 3 - 7 years working experience in production planning and scheduling
- Demonstrated knowledge of MRP processes and systems
