JOB SUMMARY:
The Planner shall be responsible to the Manager Planning. The Planner will review incoming work packages, establish the required labor, manage the work processes, track project performance, coordinate with the planning staff and maintain a record of events affecting the project.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
In addition, the Planner has the authority and shall:

- Coordinate with the Program Manager / Project Manager / Manager Planning to achieve the desired work quality and performance within the contracted down time for the project.
- Assist in the scheduling of work by coordinating requirements of each trade/department.
- Project the labor requirement by trade to accomplish the work within the target work schedule and establish the methods and parameters to track project progress and performance.
- Update data as required for in house software monitoring.
- Establish the proper work procedures based on customer requirements and ensure that planning and production staff follow the established procedures and work processes.
- Administer the terms of contracts by interpreting the work contents, negotiation of O & A items, pricing, budgeting of man-hours, estimations, and upkeep of statistics.
- When required, co-ordinate with the Customer and Production for progressive and expeditious man-hours approval on O & A work.
- Maintain a record of events or decisions significant to meeting the work schedule such as in changes in work procedures, additional customer work requests and major findings on the aircraft.
- Review the work documents provided to the project and maintain a record of changes in work scope for the duration of the project.
- Compile data on the program pertaining to man-hour, cost versus sold, redelivery status as well as other pertinent data for internal use as well as customer presentations.
- Assist in compiling daily status reports in conjunction with the Program / Project Manager for both the customer and internal VT MAE use.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Good working knowledge or the ability to acquire skills in the following:
The ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, by presenting ideas and giving instructions/guidance to subordinates, co-workers, supervisors, and outside agencies in a manner that instructions are carried out and requested information is obtained; ability to motivate and lead a staff or team of subordinates to obtain goals, higher productivity, and quality work; the ability to delegate and prioritized work effectively; creative; persuasive. Knowledge of computer-based planning systems and aircraft maintenance programs. Technical knowledge of transport category aircraft. Proficient knowledge of all FAR’s and company policies and procedures; proficient knowledge of all aircraft manuals and related materials; knowledge of all maintenance and internal paperwork including personnel forms and documentation.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: General office environment.
SUPERVISION: The incumbent normally performs the duty assignment at his or her discretion and is limited only by policies set by administrative or legislative authority. Total end results determine the effectiveness of job performance.
INTERPERSONAL RELATIONS: A moderate level of interpersonal skills is required to maintain an effective relationship within the department and with outside vendors and clients. Confidentiality is extremely important.
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT: Normal office environment requiring the performance of essential responsibilities while sitting in a high back chair five hours per day and walking three hours per day up to 200 ft. on concrete/ carpet surfaces to deliver or communicate various documentation. Must be able to lift 25lbs. and report to work regularly.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Associate degree or equivalent in training, education and/or experience.
EXPERIENCE: 1 year of aircraft maintenance planning; production control; non-aircraft maintenance planning and scheduling experience or equivalent.
Commercial aircraft experience preferred but not required
