Responsibilities

The Position:

The Senior Corporate Accountant is a multifaceted role who will be responsible for analyzing complex accounting issues, assisting with International Branch accounting, and providing guidance on technical accounting matters. This role requires a deep understanding of accounting principles, attention to detail, and the ability to navigate and interpret accounting standards (GAAP and IFRS).

  • Journal Entries and Reconciliations: The Sr. Corporate Accountant is responsible for preparing and reviewing both routine and non-routine journal entries and reconciliations. Evaluates more complex ad-hoc and non-routine financial transactions and performs critical assessment to ensure the accounting is performed correctly in accordance with accounting standards.
  • Process Improvement: Ensures the team is committed to continuous improvement. Will be involved in identifying and implementing improved practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in accounting processes. The Sr. Corporate Accountant may lead and oversee initiatives in this area involving various cross functional stakeholders. Takes continuous improvement actions to identify, analyze and enhance existing processes within our organization to maximize opportunities for efficiency and effectiveness and meet new goals and objectives.
  • Financial Reporting: The Sr. Corporate Accountant will assist in maintaining the accounting records of our international subsidiaries / branches, including compiling their financial statements. This includes domestic and international financial reporting. Work with auditors in the appropriate regions.
  • Analytical Review: Perform analytical reviews of account balances, which is essential for understanding the financial health of the organization. It involves examining financial data, trends, and variances to enable management to make informed decisions and recommendations. Supports compliance initiatives by gathering data and providing necessary responses for regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Technical Accounting Guidance and Internal Controls: Follow relevant technical accounting guidance (GAAP, IFRS, Panasonic accounting policy) and adhere to internal accounting controls under established frameworks (SOX, JSOX, Panasonic company guidelines). Share expertise with other accountants and assist with decisions to apply the appropriate accounting guidelines. The Sr. Corporate Accountant will research more complex technical accounting topics and discuss with more senior members of the accounting team to align on accounting approach. Provide all related external and internal audit support in areas of responsibility.
  • Mentoring: The Sr. Corporate Accountant may mentor junior accountants and may review their work.

The salary range of $73,000 – $123,000 is just one component of Panasonic’s total package. The final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and incentives.


Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

  • 8 years accounting experience.
  • Analytical mind set and able to recognize areas of need and react pro-actively to resolve issues.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment, while being adaptable to frequent changes in priorities.
  • Certified Public Accountant (Active License) preferred.
  • Oracle experience preferred.
  • Ability to apply professional guidance, such as GAAP and IFRS, and adhere to company policies and procedures to resolve various issues.
  • Experience with technical accounting matters including performing ad-hoc accounting research using GAAP or relevant Big Four interpretive guidance.
  • Good understanding of GAAP and IFRS, experience in a SOX control environment, ability to handle complex accounting matters.
  • Possess an analytical mindset and the ability to identify areas of improvement and proactively resolve issues.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables), Word, and the use of ERP system.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, adapt to changing priorities, and collaborate as a team player.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a positive attitude towards interacting with colleagues at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively communicate with all finance and accounting staff and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel up to 10 of the time to domestic and international locations.
